Specialized Lubricants Engineered for What You Drive and How You Drive.®
AMSOIL is not a price formulated product. AMSOIL is a performance formulated product.

The man who brought synthetic lubricants to the automotive market leaves a legacy of Innovation, Efficiency and Solutions – to provide consumers with a better option, to be the best and to support the little guy.
What the critics deemed unnecessary and ill-conceived when his company was founded is now required by many vehicle manufacturers. Because of Amatuzio, consumers have improved choices from Big Oil, their vehicles last longer and advanced automotive technologies that would have destroyed yesterday's motor oil are possible.
“When someone starts a new company and risks everything to its success, they better be sure they have a better mousetrap. I have always been driven to be the best. I would never have started this company with a second rate product because doing so would have gone against my nature".
A.J. Amatuzio, President and CEO of AMSOIL, Inc.
In 1972 he Introduced The Worlds FIRST API Approved 100% Full Synthetic Motor Oil
The new lubricant performed like no other before it.
With that the Automotive Synthetic Lubricant Industry was born.

MAXIMUM Vehicle Life Cycle Maintenance Innovation, Efficiency and Solutions
100,000-Miles and BEYOND Extended Oil Change Drain Interval Technology since 1980
AMSOIL has expanded the boundaries of lubrication science and redefined the performance possibilities of engines, equipment and machinery in automotive, commercial and industrial applications since 1972.
"Our company makes the best lubricants in the world, period, and challenges anyone or any company to prove us wrong! That won't happen because our competitors know it's true." "We do things with our products that other companies won't do or don't have the expertise to do." "We don't make "minimum standard" products. We never have."
A.J. Amatuzio, President and CEO of AMSOIL, Inc.
LESS Friction = LESS Wear = MAX Fuel Economy and Life Cycle.
The uniform diameter of synthetic oil polymers allows them to more easily slide over one another. The resultant reduction in friction shows up as more horsepower, torque, reduced internal engine wear and better fuel economy.
1995 Independent Lab Fuel Efficiency Testing of AMSOIL QUALITY-FIRST advanced PAO formulated ULTRA Long Life 35,000-Mile / 1-Year 0W-30 SYNTHETIC Motor Oil showed the oil provided 38% better fuel economy than required for the specification. That was the largest fuel economy increase recorded by the test lab.

It's ULTRA Low Coefficient of Friction reduces friction so effectively, that virtually none of the engines power is wasted on “drag”. In passenger vehicle performance has delivered up to as much as a 40% increase in fuel economy.

"As one of a few independently owned oil companies, we've always stood apart from the big oil companies.
We maintain the freedom to formulate products based on performance, not price. The result is a complete product line of full-synthetic lubricants that helps you push the limits of vehicle performance, power and speed."
A.J. Amatuzio, President and CEO of AMSOIL, Inc.
NOT ALL Synthetic Lubricants are Created Equal.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
Our competitors have been formulating their oils to run at normal drain intervals while we have been formulating our Synthetic Motor Oils for 25,000-Miles and beyond "extended oil change drain intervals" since 1972, and there in lies the difference. Their oils don't have to be as good as ours, so they are not.
A.J. Amatuzio, President and CEO of AMSOIL, Inc. AMSOIL is not a price formulated product.
AMSOIL is a performance formulated product.
Buyer Beware Definition of Synthetic Lubricants Changed in 1999 Ruling:
For many years, PAOs (Polyalphaolefin is by far the most common major synthetic base oil used in industrial and automotive lubricants. It is a synthetic hydrocarbon (SHC) that mimics the best hydrocarbon (branched) structure found in mineral oils.) and other chemically synthesized basestocks were the only lubricant products that could be advertised as synthetic.

The National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau broadened the definition of synthetic lubricants to include products made with Group III basestocks in a 1999 ruling. This created confusion in the marketplace as to what the customer was actually buying when they specified “synthetic motor oil.”
Some lubricant marketers also promote semi-synthetic engine oils that are a blend of synthetic basestock and conventional mineral oils. Semi-synthetic engine oils could have as little as 10 to 20 percent synthetic in the formulation. These products can be purchased at a lower cost than full synthetics. Performance features, especially with respect to low temperature flow, high temperature evaporative loss and oxidation stability, are generally inferior to full synthetics, although they may be perfectly adequate for many applications. There is no requirement for oil marketers to specify the amount of synthetic basestock in finished semi-synthetic oil, or to state whether the synthetic component is a Group III or Group IV base oil.
The point here is to be sure that the performance features are understood when purchasing a synthetic engine oil. Ask the oil marketer for product data sheets, test results, especially data that shows lubricant performance under stressed conditions, and field test reports in equipment that is relevant for your operations.

Maintenance Innovation, Efficiency and Solutions • Inspired by Aerospace Technology since 1972
First turbo-prop and then jet aircraft engines raised the bar on what was required of a lubricant. The “extreme” high rpm, high speed, high heat and cold temperature performance requirements of those aircraft engines created a demand for new kinds of lubricants...
That have gone from exotic to mainstream, because those very same kind of high-protection and high-performance lubricant BENEFITs are NOW a Necessity, NOT a Luxury for our modern complex automotive mechanical components.

While many technological advances occur in an evolutionary manner, occasionally a revolutionary technology appears on the horizon that creates startling new conditions and profound changes. At the heart of every successful business venture you'll find two things: technical innovation and business foresight.
Inspired by Aerospace Technology
Our Founder, President and CEO was an award-winning jet fighter pilot and Squadron Commander. Lieutenant Colonel A.J. “Al” Amatuzio gained a solid appreciation for the extraordinary benefits of the synthetic lubricants that protected the engines of the jets he flew.
1. With an ability to: REDUCE friction and wear on engine components. 2. With an ability to: FUNCTION dependably at severe temperature extremes. 3. With an ability to: WITHSTAND rigorous and lengthy engine operation without chemical breakdown.
His impact on the entire lubricant industry has been incredibly significant.
The auto manufacturers and other lubricant companies refused to recognize Al and his superior synthetic technology. Even the industry's trade organizations refused to acknowledge his efforts.

WHY would anyone want to use products formulated down to a price,
Rather than products formulated to QUALITY-FIRST standards since 1972?
A.J. "Al" Amatuzio's Philosophy:
"I take pride in never having conformed to industry norms or standards when these standards are contrary to peak performance."

WHY Quality Motor Oil Matters • WHEN it comes to protection, can you have too much?
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have been aggressively downsizing engines to meet strict fuel-economy and emissions standards without sacrificing power and torque. Most new engines today use some combination of turbochargers, direct-fuel injection and variable valve timing to make more power than their larger counterparts while delivering improved fuel economy.
A Potentially Catastrophic Problem is Surfacing in Today's Engines.
Low-Speed Pre-Ignition “SUPER KNOCK” Engine Damage
Cracked Pistons • Broken Rods • LSPI Spells Trouble

What is LSPI?
As its name implies, LSPI is the spontaneous ignition of the fuel/air mixture prior to spark-triggered ignition. LSPI is a more destructive form of regular pre-ignition, which has been around since engines were invented. In this case, though, it occurs under low-speed, high-torque conditions in turbocharged gasoline-direct-injected (TGDI) engines and is much more destructive than typical pre-ignition.
In a properly operating engine, spark-triggered ignition typically occurs a few degrees before the piston reaches top dead center (TDC). This careful timing ensures the downward force of the exploding fuel/air mixture works in tandem with downward piston momentum, resulting in optimum engine efficiency and power.
LSPI effectively throws off engine timing. In turbocharged engines operating under certain conditions, particularly at low speeds and under high torque, like when taking off from a stoplight, the fuel/air can spontaneously ignite too early in the combustion cycle. The expanding combustion charge collides with the piston as it's still moving up the cylinder. The collision between the exploding combustion charge and the upward-moving piston can destroy the pistons or connecting rods.

What causes LSPI?
Current thinking suggests the cause is due in part to oil/fuel droplets or particles in the cylinder auto-igniting randomly. The droplets/particles heat enough to ignite the air/fuel mixture before the spark plug ignites. This means oil formulation can play a role in reducing LSPI.
Testing has shown that certain motor oil components can promote LSPI, while others can help quench it. Even the formulation of gasoline plays a role; however, it's easier to solve the problem by reformulating motor oil.
Oil formulators face a difficult balancing act. It's no easy task figuring out how to formulate a motor oil that delivers excellent wear protection, resists the increased heat of turbocharged engines, prevents deposits, acts as a hydraulic fluid and, now, combats LSPI. The important thing to keep in mind is that it is the performance of the total formulation that counts, not just the quantity of one or two motor oil components.

New Performance Specs Coming
Difficult or not, fighting LSPI must be done. Next-generation oils will need to pass an LSPI test to meet the new API SP and ILSAC GF-6 performance specifications set to take effect in mid-2019. General Motors is ahead of the game and requires oils to pass their own LSPI test to meet it's updated GM dexos1 specification (known as dexos1:2015) scheduled to take effect Aug. 31, 2017.
For now, you don't have to worry too much. Your vehicle's computer is programmed to avoid operating conditions that lead to LSPI. However, operating your engine under those conditions does reduce fuel economy gains, so once oils hit the market that combat LSPI, you can bet the OEMs will program their vehicles to benefit from those efficiency gains.
Up-Date: After Months of Vigorous Testing, the Results Are In:
- AMSOIL OE Series Original Equipment = 0W-16, 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30
- AMSOIL XL Series 12,000-Mile = 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30 and 10W-40
- AMSOIL Signature Series 25,000-Mile = 0W-20, 5W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30, 10W-30, 0W-40 and 5W-50
Synthetic Motor Oils achieved 100 percent protection against LSPI in the engine test required by GM;s dexos1® Gen 2 specification - zero occurrences were recorded throughout five consecutive tests proving it can protect turbocharged direct-injected engines.

Know YOUR Current Oil Change Costs
Determine your current oil change costs. This includes not only the oil you use, but also the filters, the man hours and labor rate, the recycling/disposal of the oil and filter, and even the downtime costs for the vehicle sitting on the lift instead of being on the road.
To properly calculate your oil change costs, first determine:
|
By multiplying the man hours and labor rate, oil, and filter costs, then determining the number of oil changes performed during a 12-month period, you can calculate the annual per-vehicle cost, as well as how much you are spending on your entire fleet.

U.S. Automakers and Dealerships Exploiting the Consumer Vehicle Warranty Knowledge Gap
Maybe you've heard of Motorcycle, ATV/UTV, Boat or other dealerships pressuring people into buying the manufacturer's brand of parts or lubricants to avoid losing their factory warranty. If it's happened to you, it probably left a bad taste in your mouth.

NO ONE LIKES to be told WHAT TO BUY.
NO ONE LIKES to be TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.
U.S. auto company dealerships, exploit the warranty knowledge gap by preying on u.s. consumer concerns about the lubricants used for new vehicle oil changes and/or to maintain warranty requirements process in order to collect a premium or increase market share of their house-branded OEM motor oils and lubricants.
In other words, the auto companies know more about the car than you do, something economists call asymmetric information. Economist George Akerlof won a Nobel Prize for his work on asymmetric information and how it leads to terrible market outcomes.
If OEMs indeed think they know what's best for their product, their lubricants should outperform – or at least meet the performance levels of other products out there.
OEMs DO NOT Formulate Their Own Lubricants
OEM Dealership PROGRAM OILS • OEM Dealerships Parts/Service Managers they're locked into program oils; they must use the oils recommended to them by the manufacturer or lose manufacturers' bonus money. This is a common practice in business and is not considered collusion. The owner of the dealership receives a rebate to sell the original equipment manufacturer private-labeled premium priced OEM-branded lubricants.

GET THE FACTS ABOUT YOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS
In the United States: The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits OEMs from requiring owners to use their oem-branded genuine oils to maintain their vehicle warranties
unless the item is provided FREE of charge.
The Federal Magnuson Moss Warranty Act protects YOUR freedom to choose the brand of parts and lubricants YOU think is best. It also protects YOUR right to extend oil change drain intervals BEYOND what's given in your owner's manual WITHOUT fear of voiding YOUR factory warranty.

U.S. FEDERAL LAW
It is illegal to tie warranty coverage to WHICHEVER BRAND of parts or lubricants YOU use. Manufacturers THAT do so MUST provide the parts or lubricants FREE of Charge.
YOU have the freedom to choose how YOU protect YOUR vehicles and equipment, INCLUDING extending oil change drain intervals.
Manufacturers CAN NOT DENY warranty coverage WITHOUT showing the aftermarket part or lubricant CAUSED a failure.
If anyone tries to tell YOU differently, contact us at tech@amsoil.com or 715-399-TECH and we'll set the record straight.

AMSOIL GUARANTEED PERFORMANCE
Like our products, the AMSOIL Limited Warranty is built with an extra measure of protection. While some other oil companies guarantee THEIR products ONLY until YOU reach a specified mileage WE don't place restrictions ON our warranty coverage based ON total vehicle miles.
WE stand behind OUR products FOR as LONG as YOU use them.
|
Plus, AMSOIL products are Warranty Secure, keeping your factory warranty intact. They are high-performance replacements for OEM vehicle and equipment house-branded products. That's one more reason we've earned the trust of hardcore enthusiasts across North America. |
